*TCN Launches Line Reconductoring in Kano, Contractors Set 12-Month Delivery Target* The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has launched a line reconductoring project in Kano to improve power transmission reliability across Northern Nigeria. The project involves upgrading the ageing Kumbotso-Dakata 132kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line, which has been a major bottleneck affecting supply to key industrial hubs like the Dakata Industrial Zone and the upcoming Walalambe Transmission Substation. The project, expected to be completed within 12 months, includes critical upgrades such as replacing obsolete ACSR dog conductors with high-capacity ACCC-Silvassa conductors, installing Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) for enhanced communication and monitoring, and deploying durable composite polymer insulators suited for harsh environmental conditions. TCN's General Manager, Transmission Services, Engr. A.I. Sharifai emphasized the project's importance, stating that it's not just infrastructure renewal but about restoring confidence in the transmission network and empowering industries and communities through reliable electricity. This project is part of TCN's efforts to enhance power infrastructure and economic development in the region. Similar projects include the reconductoring of the Kankia-Katsina 132kV transmission line, expected to last between five and six weeks, and the upgrade of transmission lines in Port Harcourt, aimed at increasing line capacity and reducing power interruptions. The TCN has also completed 22 power transmission projects and upgrades since 2020, including delivering four units of 132 kilovolts transmission substations and upgrading 15 existing substations with higher capacity transformers and equipment . TCN is committed to contributing its quota to the country's economic and social development through impactful transmission infrastructural development. The conflict between Iran and Israel is rooted in a combination of historical, political, ideological, and security factors. Here are some of the primary reasons for the tensions and hostilities between the two nations: 1. Ideological Differences: Iran is an Islamic Republic with a theocratic regime that promotes a revolutionary ideology, opposing Western influence and what it perceives as imperialism in the region. Israel, on the other hand, is a democratic state with a Jewish identity, often seen by Iran as a symbol of Western imperialism and a primary adversary in the Middle East. 2. Support for Opposing Groups: Iran has supported various militant groups that oppose Israel, such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza. This support includes military training, funding, and weapons supplies, which Israel views as a direct threat to its security. 3. Nuclear Program: Iran’s nuclear program has been a significant point of contention. Israel fears that if Iran develops nuclear weapons, it could pose an existential threat to the Jewish state. As a result, Israel has consistently opposed Iran's nuclear ambitions and has engaged in various efforts to sabotage the program, including cyber attacks. 4. Regional Influence: Iran seeks to expand its influence across the Middle East, supporting proxy groups and forming alliances with countries like Syria and Iraq. This expansion is seen by Israel as a direct threat to its national security and a challenge to its dominance in the region. 5. Historical Hostility: The establishment of Israel in 1948 and the subsequent Arab-Israeli conflicts have created a long-standing animosity in the region. Iran, particularly after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, shifted its foreign policy to support anti-Israel sentiments and movements, aligning itself with the Palestinian cause and other adversaries of Israel. 6. Proxy Conflicts: The conflict between Iran and Israel often plays out through proxy wars in various countries, notably in Syria and Lebanon. Iran’s involvement in these conflicts, often supporting groups that attack Israel, creates an ongoing cycle of retaliation and violence. 7. Military Engagements: Israel has conducted airstrikes against Iranian military targets in Syria, aiming to prevent the establishment of a permanent Iranian military presence near its borders. These military engagements further escalate tensions and contribute to the ongoing hostilities. 8. International Alliances: The U.S.-Israel alliance plays a significant role in the conflict. Iran perceives the strong U.S. support for Israel as part of a broader strategy to contain Iranian influence in the region, heightening its animosity towards both countries. In summary, the conflict between Iran and Israel is driven by a complex interplay of ideological, political, and security factors. The ongoing hostilities are characterized by proxy conflicts, military engagements, and deep-rooted animosities, making any resolution challenging. FBI goes after Nigerian scammers for defrauding U.S. President Donald Trump of 2025 inauguration funds The Federal Bureau of Investigation has filed a civil forfeiture complaint to seize property belonging to Lagos-based fraudster Ehiremen Aigbokhan for stealing more than $300,000 in funds meant for U.S. President Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration. The FBI is also actively pursuing an arrest warrant for Mr Aigbokhan in connection with a cryptocurrency fraud and money laundering scheme that targeted a donor intending to contribute to the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee. According to legal filings, Mr Aigbokhan and his co-conspirators carried out a sophisticated fraudulent operation using the notorious Business Email Compromise scheme to trick their victims into sending money to cryptocurrency accounts belonging to them. #JTT #Jaconnaafrica #jajiotheteacher #jagajagafrica

Tracking Down FCDA worker detained by FCT Minister Wike Over Leaked Land Allocation Scandal Involving his children Last Friday, Mairiga Hassan Shaharu, a staff member at the Federal Capital Development Administration (FCDA), was unlawfully detained at the FCDA Police Post on the orders of Nyesom Wike’s Chief Security Officer (CSO). He was accused of leaking documents showing that the FCT Minister had illegally allocated large portions of Abuja land to his two underage sons, a scandal first reported by Peoples Gazette. But the truth is that Mairiga doesn’t even have access to the Land Department’s internal systems. He works in the department that handles new land applications, not approvals or allocations. I visited the police post tonight with two human rights lawyers, Rosemary HamzaHamza and Ak Musa. We were later joined by a third lawyer who had tried unsuccessfully to secure Mairiga’s release earlier. According to him, Wike’s CSO used a forged court order to detain Mairiga. The IPO on the case refused to show the order. When the lawyer managed to glance at it, he discovered the order came from a magistrate who no longer presides in the jurisdiction, a clear evidence of forgery and abuse of office. After some three hours of confrontation by telephone, Wike’s CSO claimed they couldn’t locate the Investigating Police Officer (IPO), it was a ruse. Meanwhile, the senior female officer in charge of the police post returned from Karu, summoned to calm things down, she immediately said she lacked the power to release Mairiga, because he was Wike’s personal detainee. Eventually, the CSO called back and claimed Wike had changed his mind. He said the matter was now “beyond” him as it was now in the hands of the FCT Police Commissioner, CP Wale Ajao, the same Commissioner of the Nigeria Police Force who recently helped imprison a TikToker on behalf of Senator Prince Ned Nwoko and his youngest wife, Regina Daniels. I called CP Ajao directly, but he pretended the detention was based on a valid court order—unaware that we had already confirmed the order was fake. He repeated the same tactic, “Go to court.” Then came the most brazen move, Wike’s CSO called again and said Wike himself wants to see me at his office tomorrow morning alongside the detained worker. I asked him if he even knew who he was speaking to. I told him flatly, Wike couldn't have summoned me, he knew better not to make such a mistake and I will not be visiting his office. Before ending the call, I asked the CSO, If Wike never allocated land to his children, why is someone being detained for leaking documents that supposedly don’t exist? Wike should be the one under investigation for allocating public lands to his children, a clear criminal conduct, not Citizen Mairiga. #FreeMairigaNowthe #JTT #jajiotheteacher #jaconnaafrica

Zambia has officially secured a 26% stake in Angola’s Lobito oil refinery project, Angola’s largest oil refinery. The Lobito refinery, currently under construction in Angola’s Benguela Province, is set to become one of Africa’s largest petroleum processing refineries, with a planned capacity of 200,000 barrels per day. Once completed by 2026, the multi-billion-dollar refinery will refine crude oil for both international and domestic export, including export to Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Zambia becomes a key shareholder alongside Angola’s state oil firm Sonangol (which holds a 30% stake), while the remaining shares are allocated to other regional and private investors. Part of the agreement will see Angola transports refined petroleum products to Zambia. Plans are underway to construct a pipeline from Angola to Zambia, enabling direct transport of refined petroleum products to Zambia. “This is a strategic move to end our historical dependency on distant and costly fuel sources,” Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema said. “We are unlocking long-term energy security for Zambia and the wider region.” This could lower Zambia’s fuel import costs and lead to retail price reductions of up to 15%. #TheAfricanDream # jaconnaafrica #jajiotheteacher
