‎IGP HOLDS STRATEGIC CONFERENCE WITH SENIOR OFFICERS, COMMENDS OFFICERS FOR PROACTIVENESS

‎Rolls Out 2-Month Scorecard, Reaffirms Commitment to Improved Welfare for both Serving and Retired Officers

‎The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM., today July 29 2025, convened a strategic conference with senior police officers from the ranks of Commissioner of Police and above at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Building, Force Headquarters, Abuja. The conference focused on addressing changes in security landscape, threats complexity, and reinforcing the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

‎During the conference, the IGP commended senior officers on their dedication and operational efficiency to duty, sacrifices made for public safety, which had led to significant achievements for the Nigeria Police Force in the last 2 months. From June to July 2025, the Nigeria Police Force recorded the arrest of 5,488 criminal suspects for various offences including kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, homicide and murder; the recovery of 316 assorted firearms and 2,884 rounds of ammunition; the recovery of 216 stolen/unregistered vehicles, and the rescue of 170 kidnapped victims, some from extremely difficult terrains.

‎The IGP charged the senior officers to renew their commitment to crime fighting, as leadership roles are not ceremonial but earned by lifesaving decisions which keep our country safe. He further emphasized the need for Commands and Formations to showcase operational results of the Police at their various levels, so as to intimate Nigerians of the Police unrelentness in the mandate to ensure public safety. Also, he urged officers to be proactive in responding to potential threats, stressing the need for the Force to be abreast of changes in the dynamics of crime by implementing intelligence-led strategies and leveraging technology to enhance crime-fighting capabilities.

‎The IGP again reaffirmed the commitment of the leadership to the Force to improved welfare packages for both serving and retired Police officers, which remains a forefront of his administration’s institutional reform agenda.

‎The conference ended with a renewed vigor from all senior officers to implement the Policies of the IGP towards crime prevention, while reassuring Nigerians of continual engagement at grass root level to ensure a safe and secured Nigeria.

  • "Suspend Wike immediately and set up an independent panel of inquiry into all FCT land allocations since he assumed office."
~Timi Frank, Bayelsa-born political activist has expressed deep concerns over the disturbing allegations of land grabbing, corruption, and gross abuse of office by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the deafening silence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the issue.

▪︎It is alleged that Wike dishes out land on a daily basis to friends, family, and associates, while ordinary citizens and investors with genuine needs for both personal and commercial purposes are sidelined. His actions reportedly extend to revoking land from an embassy just to gift it to a personal associate – a clear case of impunity.

“This blatant disregard for the rule of law will discourage local and foreign investors, leading to economic setbacks for the FCT and Nigeria as a whole.”

“Mr President let me remind you that former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Betta Edu’s case was not as grievous compared to what Wike has done yet you suspended her and sacked her.

“So why is Wike’s case different despite the public expose’? This clearly shows that you are either a beneficiary of Wike’s land grabbing spree or an accomplice by your refusal to act in the face of public outcry against the heist.”

“The continued silence of President Tinubu in the face of these weighty allegations is both troubling and unacceptable. If these actions by the FCT Minister go unchecked, they will tarnish the President’s image and administration.

“What does this silence say about your government, Mr. President? Are you, by omission or commission, endorsing these corrupt practices to build patronage and raise funds for the 2027 elections?”

The failure of the nation’s security and anti-corruption agencies – the Police, EFCC, ICPC and others – to probe the allegations as equally disturbing. Are these institutions now complicit in Wike’s alleged corrupt practices?

“It is shocking that the National Assembly, which has oversight functions over the FCT, has remained quiet despite these allegations. Could it be that they, too, have benefitted from Wike’s land distribution scheme?”

“His record in Rivers State speaks volumes, where he is rumoured to be one of the highest private landowners. Now, he is replicating the same pattern in the FCT, using proxies such as his father, children, siblings, and close friends.

“How did his 95-year-old father or children, who have never worked, suddenly acquire prime lands in Abuja? This reeks of conflict of interest and corruption of the highest order.”

“Mr. President, the Nigerian people are watching. If you fail to act, history will remember that by 2027, you left the indigenous people of Abuja as internally displaced persons in their own city.

“You promised Nigerians a government of integrity. Where is the investigation panel you once vowed to set up? Has it all been lip service?”

“Suspend Wike immediately and set up an independent panel of inquiry into all FCT land allocations since he assumed office.

“Ensure accountability for all public officers involved in this alleged land-grabbing scandal and restore confidence in the rule of law and the sanctity of the FCT’s land administration process.

“Enough is enough! Wike hides under the guise of flashy projects while engaging in unprecedented corruption. Past FCT Ministers developed new districts such as Wuye, Jabi, and Jahi without looting or noise. Why must we tolerate such impunity now?"

“Mr. President, relieve Wike of his duties and let him answer for his sins. Your inaction will only confirm that impunity and corruption are the hallmarks of your administration.”

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION: NIGERIA POLICE FORCE ARREST, REPATRIATE CHINESE FUGITIVE TO CHINA

The Nigeria Police Force, through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, has successfully apprehended and repatriated a Chinese fugitive, Mr. CHEN Gaochong, to the People’s Republic of China, in close collaboration with Chinese Police authorities and in accordance with international law enforcement protocols. This strategic operation marks a significant milestone in transnational police cooperation and the global fight against financial crime.

Mr. Chen Gaochong, a male national of China, was declared wanted by the Peixian Public Security Bureau of Jiangsu Province for offences involving tax fraud, specifically the unlawful issuance of special Value Added Tax (VAT) invoices totalling RMB 4,974,400. The investigation, initiated by Chinese authorities on 5th March 2020, revealed that between May and August 2017, the suspect fraudulently issued 45 VAT invoices for fictitious transactions under the guise of legitimate business activities. These invoices were issued to Xuzhou Wanfeng Plastic Industry Co., Ltd., using the names of two other companies, Linhai Guangyong Plastic Products Co., Ltd. and Linhai Beilaisi Plastic Products Co., Ltd., without their consent or involvement.

Following the discovery of his criminal activities, Chen Gaochong fled Mainland China on 16th November 2019 through the Shenzhen Bay port to Hong Kong, and later escaped to Burkina Faso before illegally entering Nigeria in 2021. He deliberately avoided renewing his international passport in an attempt to conceal his identity and evade arrest. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued by the Peixian Public Security Bureau on 9th July 2020 for his detention on suspicion of tax-related offences.

Upon receipt of a formal request for assistance from Chinese authorities, INTERPOL NCB Abuja commenced covert intelligence operations, leading to the successful tracing and arrest of the fugitive in Lagos on Tuesday, 24th June 2025. In the spirit of international law enforcement cooperation and mutual legal assistance, Mr. Chen Gaochong was repatriated and formally handed over to Chinese authorities on Thursday, 3rd July 2025.

The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, reaffirms its dedication to ensuring that Nigeria does not serve as a haven for criminals fleeing justice. The Force remains committed to upholding global standards in transnational crime prevention and will continue to strengthen its collaboration with international law enforcement agencies to combat crime and criminality.

...Restates Commitment to Cleaner, Sustainable Fuel Alternative

  • MY LETTER TO THE WORLD ON
HOW TO ALLEVIATE WORLD PROBLEMS IN OUR CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY.

In contemporary society, a multitude of abnormalities persist on a daily and nightly basis, spanning generations. The continued practice of misguided belief systems prompts the inquiry: how can we terminate this chaos? Consider the following: the concept of racial superiority is fundamentally flawed. Individuals from all ethnic backgrounds require assistance from one another. We are designed to coexist, sharing resources and celebrating diversity. It is apparent that life's offerings are not exclusive to one race; discoveries and innovations are intended to benefit humanity collectively. Ultimately, nothing in life is solely reserved for one group.

    1) The reality that I emphasize in my messages to the world is that all humans are connected and originate from a single source. What constitutes a better life, which is comprised of everything that brings us happiness and fulfillment? Through my examination of life, I have come to realize that we all share the same fundamental needs. Moreover, I have found that even before humanity came into existence, everything required for a fulfilling life was already in place. We do not need to be selfish or harmful; our desires can be attained through love and mutual respect. Africa, America, China, and India are all valuable contributors to the world, and failure to recognize this is a sign of ignorance that requires attention.

    (2) Failure to acknowledge the truth about our perspectives on other races: It will astonish you to learn about the self-perceptions of Chinese, Indian, Black, and White individuals. Instead of collaborating and educating ourselves about the realities of life, some races attempt to conceal, destroy other cultures, and manipulate them to perpetuate exploitation. However, this behavior will not persist indefinitely, and eventually, the suppressed and exploited individuals will acquire the capacity to rise up against their oppressors, leading to a reversal of consequences. I emphasized that it is foolish for any race to consider itself superior to others; we are one, one world, one God, one humanity, we want a good life, a beautiful earth, highlighting that the world's resources are sufficient for humanity to share, and we will never exhaust them.

(3)Every individual has free will, except for minors who require supervision. So-called international laws that supposedly aim to improve the world appear to favor one race over others. In response to the corona virus, Africans developed their own solutions, but these required approval from the World Health Organization, resulting in delays pending WHO validation. In Nigeria, many companies are closing because overseas companies do not want local solution providers to coexist with their own, so they use their collective power to stop it. If we are to achieve peace and progress, we must work together, love one another, and share with one another. Otherwise, a time will come when no human can stop the nemesis of our corrupt attitudes. Interestingly, the most corrupt country in the world, which is also ranked as the most curious, questions why it is not listed among the corrupt nations. We must allow every country and race to decide what is good for them, as nobody should rule the world due to the lack of human capacity, which only the creator possesses.

To summarize, the notion that one human being is superior to another is a falsehood, as is the idea that we do not need each other's support in life. Additionally, it is a misconception that any race can exist independently of others. It is also untrue that we do not all require the necessities of life, which bring fulfillment. It is an established fact that humanity shares a common origin. Consequently, we must work collaboratively with love, respect each other's cultural diversity, and share the resources provided by our creators for our mutual benefit.

  • PRESS RELEASE

Water Ministry Partners Nestlé Nigeria on Advancement of Water Quality Management in Nigeria.

In a move to promote safe and sustainable water practices, the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation (FMWRS) has announced a collaborative partnership with Nestlé Nigeria to drive nationwide Water Quality Management Campaigns. This initiative supports the goals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the water sector.

This commitment was made by the Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, during a courtesy visit by the management of Nestlé Nigeria and members of the Organized Private Sector in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (OPS-WASH) led by Nestlé Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Lead, Victoria Uwadoka to his office today in Abuja.

The Minister emphasized that efficient water resource management is essential for minimizing public health threats such as cholera and diarrhea, while also helping to mitigate the adverse impacts of flooding. He assured the Ministry’s full support for Nestlé’s campaign and pledged timely collaboration to deliver impactful results.

“The Ministry is committed to working with Nestlé Nigeria to improve water quality across the country. This partnership is in line with our mission to ensure safe water access and support the health and wellbeing of all Nigerians,” Prof. Utsev said.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of FMWRS, Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, applauded Nestlé’s presentation on water quality improvement and pledged the Ministry’s full support for the initiative.

Speaking on behalf of Nestlé Nigeria, Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Lead, stressed the urgency of bridging the knowledge gap around water quality.

“Not all clear water is clean. Poor water quality continues to affect health and increase the prevalence of waterborne diseases. Through our National Water Quality Advocacy Campaign, we aim to raise awareness, educate communities, engage stakeholders, and drive sustainable action,” Uwadoka said.

She further added that the campaign is built on three key pillars: Raising Awareness and Educating, Engaging Stakeholders, and Driving Sustainable Actions.

Providing further insight into the project, Dr. Nicholas Igwe, National Coordinator of OPS-WASH, highlighted that this collaboration goes beyond traditional Corporate Social Responsibility.

“This initiative is focused on long-term water rehabilitation. In Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 16 communities will benefit, while 8 communities in Agbara, Ogun State, are also set to receive support. Additionally, two farming communities in Abaji and Agbara will benefit from the introduction of water harvesting systems for irrigation,” Dr. Igwe noted.

The Director of Water Quality Control and Sanitation at the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Mrs. Elizabeth Ugoh, noted that the ongoing baseline report on water quality and its parameters will significantly strengthen the water quality collaboration with Nestlé Nigeria.

In attendance were some Directors of the Ministry including Director, Water Supply, Mr. Babarinde Segun Mukaila, Director Planning and Technical Support Services, Engr. Adeyinka Adenopo, Directors 11 & 111 of the Department of Water Quality Control and Sanitation, Habu Jamilu, mni and Ibiyemi Olu-Daniels, and Director Special Duties, Chucks Mbaike, respectively
