  • Tinubu Chose N712Billion Airport Renovation While 34 Million Nigerians Face Hunger –Peter Obi

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of misplacing national priorities by approving ₦712.3 billion for airport renovation while 34 million Nigerians face the threat of hunger.

Obi, who made the statement on Wednesday, was reacting to a recent warning by the United Nations that 34 million Nigerians are at risk of food insecurity.

The UN alert, issued in July 2025, was widely reported in national newspapers on August 1, 2025—the same day the government announced the budget approval.

“This is not just an abstract statistic. It speaks of real people - our parents, children, neighbours, and friends - who are going to bed hungry and waking up without hope of a meal,” he said.

Obi stated, “It is profoundly troubling that at a time when millions of Nigerians are facing the crushing burden of hunger, the Federal Government has chosen to approve a staggering ₦712.3 billion—not to feed its people, not to lift them out of hardship, and not to invest in their well-being, but to renovate an airport. This raises a fundamental and urgent question: Where are our national priorities?”

  • Just In; Sowore Arrives At Nigerian Police Headquarters With Travel Bag, Soap; Supporters Issue Two-Hour Ultimatum For His Release

Human rights activist and #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore, on Wednesday arrived at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja carrying a travel bag, as he honoured a controversial invitation from the Inspector General of Police’s Monitoring Unit over a petition reportedly filed against him.

Sowore, who arrived at exactly 12:16 p.m., was accompanied by his lawyers, Barristers A.K. Musa and Marshal Abubakar, along with a crowd of supporters chanting anti-government and anti-Kayode Egbetokun songs. His visibly packed travel bag contained personal essentials — including toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, clothing, books, and other items — a symbolic gesture suggesting he was prepared for possible detention.

Tensions escalated as members of the Take It Back Movement and other allied activist groups issued a two-hour ultimatum to the police to either release Sowore or face mass resistance.

“If they refuse to release Sowore, then they must arrest us with him. We are not going to leave here. This is 12:16 p.m., and after two hours, if they fail to release him, then they have to arrest all of us,” declared Princess Mikky, convener of #NUDE NIGERIA.

  • JUST IN : People Should Stop Coming to TV Stations and Insisting That the North Won’t Support Obi—Peter Ameh

Peter Ameh, the former Chairman of IPAC, expressed in an interview on Arise TV that for Nigeria to move forward, people need to stop coming on live TV to say that the North will not support Obi. Ameh’s statement came in response to a claim by Kenneth Okonkwo, who stated that it would be better for the coalition to adopt a Northerner as their presidential candidate rather than Peter Obi. Ameh also added that he is from Kogi State, which is in the North, and he fully supports the coalition adopting Peter Obi.

In his words, “The best option for a country like ours to move forward is for people to stop coming to TV stations and insisting that the North will not support Obi. That is wrong. I am from the North; I am from Kogi State. What part of the North is he talking about?”

  • When Peter Obi Celebrated Brilliance Over Noise!

Back in March 2014, Peter Obi, who was the Governor at the time, made a remarkable move by awarding ₦1 million each to 160 Anambra natives who graduated with first-class honours from universities all over Nigeria.

He didn’t squander security votes on flashy convoys or extravagant spending. Instead, he chose to honor academic excellence.

Just to give you some perspective, back then, ₦1M was about $6,060. Today, that same $6,060 is worth over ₦9.4 million!

Can you imagine a leader who invests in intellect rather than just noise? Someone who encourages students with the message: “Believe in yourself and push harder.”

Now, think about how different that is from today’s priorities.
