  • America has withdrawn $160m USAID support to Ghana – Franklin Cudjoe reminds Ablakwa for giving US Senator Jim Risch a showdown

The United States has reportedly withdrawn its USAID support to Ghana, ending an annual financial assistance package estimated at $160 million, according to Franklin Cudjoe, Founding President of IMANI Africa.

Cudjoe made the revelation in response to Foreign Affairs Minister, Okudzeto Ablakwa who recently pushed back against comments from U.S. senator Jim Risch urging Ghana to settle debts owed to American companies.

“And by the way, America has withdrawn its USAID support for Ghana.

"The close to $160 million Ghana receives annually from the US will come no more, so really, you will not be subsidising Ghana,” Cudjoe stated.

He criticised the minister’s remarks as shortsighted, especially in light of evolving trade and diplomatic ties between the two countries.

  • EFCC Takes Anti-corruption Campaign to School Children in Ilorin

The Ilorin Zonal Directorate Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, July 7, 2025, took its anti-corruption campaign to the pupils of Lightway Nursery and Primary School, Tanke, Ilorin, Kwara State.

Ayodele Babatunde, Head, Public Affairs Department, Ilorin Directorate of the EFCC, who enlightened the pupils at the event, spoke to them on the meaning of corruption, its different shades, harmful effects and how everyone, including children, can contribute to building a corruption-free Nigeria.

"Corruption is simply doing the wrong thing, especially when it affects others or the country. It includes vices such as cheating, lying and stealing, he said. He noted that children have a role to play in shaping a better future even at their young age. "You can avoid corruption by always telling the truth, doing your homework without copying from others, refusing to steal or cheat, observing honesty, discipline, integrity, and patriotism and respecting rules at home and in school,” he said.

Babatunde further encouraged the pupils to ensure that they grow up as good citizens who love their country and reject acts that can harm its development.

The interaction featured questions from the pupils and a pledge from them to become anti-corruption ambassadors in their school and homes.

The outreach is part of the EFCC’s strategy to instill a culture of integrity and accountability in children pursuant to the Commission’s anti-corruption prevention mandate through sensitization and advocacy.

  • *TCN Launches Line Reconductoring in Kano, Contractors Set 12-Month Delivery Target*

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has launched a line reconductoring project in Kano to improve power transmission reliability across Northern Nigeria. The project involves upgrading the ageing Kumbotso-Dakata 132kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line, which has been a major bottleneck affecting supply to key industrial hubs like the Dakata Industrial Zone and the upcoming Walalambe Transmission Substation.

The project, expected to be completed within 12 months, includes critical upgrades such as replacing obsolete ACSR dog conductors with high-capacity ACCC-Silvassa conductors, installing Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) for enhanced communication and monitoring, and deploying durable composite polymer insulators suited for harsh environmental conditions.

TCN's General Manager, Transmission Services, Engr. A.I. Sharifai emphasized the project's importance, stating that it's not just infrastructure renewal but about restoring confidence in the transmission network and empowering industries and communities through reliable electricity.

This project is part of TCN's efforts to enhance power infrastructure and economic development in the region. Similar projects include the reconductoring of the Kankia-Katsina 132kV transmission line, expected to last between five and six weeks, and the upgrade of transmission lines in Port Harcourt, aimed at increasing line capacity and reducing power interruptions.

The TCN has also completed 22 power transmission projects and upgrades since 2020, including delivering four units of 132 kilovolts transmission substations and upgrading 15 existing substations with higher capacity transformers and equipment .

TCN is committed to contributing its quota to the country's economic and social development through impactful transmission infrastructural development.

  • Embrace Integrity, Olukoyede Urges Students

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has charged students in the country to shun all forms of economic and financial crimes and embrace a life of integrity for a fulfilling future.

He gave the charge recently during the induction of students of Excellent Kiddies Academy, Bwari, Abuja into EFCC’s Integrity Club.

Represented by the Head of the Interface Unit of the Public Affairs Department of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC I, Tony Orilade, Olukoyede emphasized the importance of moral uprightness among young people, urging them to surround themselves with individuals who uphold integrity and positive values.

“To secure a brighter future, you must get it right from the beginning. Surround yourself with good people, friends and acquaintances that will help you grow in wisdom and integrity,” he said.

While warning them against associating with individuals involved in financial crimes, he stated that negative influence from such people could draw them to criminal behaviours and that could in turn, earn them grave consequences.

“Anyone who engages in financial crimes is on a path that leads to jail. Once convicted, such a person becomes an ex-convict and loses the opportunity to hold any public office in Nigeria. That is a heavy price to pay for associating with the wrong crowd,” he said.

Olukoyede further stated that the project of inaugurating EFCC’s Integrity Club in primary and secondary schools was part of the Commission’s policy of “catching them young,” which is about nurturing children to be ambassadors of integrity in their homes, schools, communities, and the country at large.

Also speaking at the event, the Head of Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit of the Commission, Assistant Commander of the EFCC II, Aisha Mohammed, enlightened the children on the functions and activities of the EFCC. She encouraged them to be honest, disciplined, and upright in their daily lives, noting that integrity is a crucial ingredient for success.

“Youths must understand that honesty and integrity are values that never go out of fashion. They open doors and keep you on the right path in life,” she said.

The highlight of the induction ceremony was a quiz competition that dwelt on EFCC and its operations. Two students, Glory Okinbaliyi and Divine Oyaniyi Bimbola emerged winners and were rewarded with android smartphones.

In his vote of thanks, the Integrity Club Master of the school, Mr. Gbenga Jatau, expressed appreciation to the EFCC Chairman and management his team for bringing the club to the school.

“On behalf of the management, staff, and students of Excellent Kiddies Academy, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to the EFCC Chairman for this great honour. We applaud the Commission’s unwavering commitment to fighting all forms of economic and financial crimes and building a better Nigeria,” he said.

The Chief of Civil Affairs in the Nigerian Army, Major-General Usman Mohammed, has said that the use of phones when approaching a military checkpoint is wrong. According to him, it is security loop for anyone to approach a checkpoint and at the same time, make use of his or her phone.

“It is a security measure for when you are approaching a checkpoint, you don’t make phone calls because the tendency is that if you are making a phone call, you might be communicating with some bad guys or you may use that particular device to set up some certain devices. It is a general convention; it is not peculiar to Nigeria, it is everywhere. People who have travelled abroad know that you don’t make phone calls when approaching a checkpoint” he said.

  • *TOPIC: BELIEVING GOD FOR THE MIRACULOUS.*(Series 1)

    *Scripture Reading:* Matthew 17:26-27

*"When Peter said, “From strangers,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are exempt [from taxation]. However, so that we do not offend them, go to the sea and throw in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up; and when you open its mouth, you will find a shekel. Take it and give it to them [to pay the temple tax] for you and Me.”*(AMP)

By the grace of God, the Holy Spirit will be helping us in this series to really trust God for the better life we desire. As we go deep in the teaching, you will be miraculously helped in Jesus Christ name. Amen!

*Miracles are extraordinary occurrences that can only be attributed to the supernatural work of God and demonstrate His involvement in human history.*

    FOUR MAJOR TYPES OF MIRACLES:

Miracles, extraordinary events demonstrating divine intervention in human affairs, can be traced from Genesis to Revelation and divided into four main categories.

*1) Physical miracles:* This miracles, such as the man at the gate called Beautiful, who went walking, leaping and praising God when Peter and John commanded him to be made whole. *"Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God."*(Acts 3:6-8 NIV)

*2) Provisional miracles:* Today's Scripture, when Jesus provided money for Peter to pay taxes, ordered him to go to the river to make a catch. Peter obeyed and found the money in the mouth of the fish which was used to pay their taxes.

*3) Miracles of protection or deliverance:* Example is like when Peter was delivered out of prison by an angel(Acts 12:6-9), or when an angel appeared to Paul and told him all lives on board his sinking ship would be saved. Finally,

*4) Signs and wonders that God performs:* miracles that simply prove His power or existence, like when God proof Himself at the Red Sea before the Egyptians. *"Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord swept the sea back by a strong east wind all that night and turned the seabed into dry land, and the waters were divided."*(Exodus 14:21 AMP). It's your turn to shout for joy at this season and I pray for you this morning that may you experience one of this Miracles before the year runs out in Jesus Christ name. Amen! To be continue tomorrow morning by God's Grace. Good morning and do have a fruitful week, peace.

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced an upward review of its service fees, which will take effect from August 1, 2025.

The announcement was made through the commission’s official social media page on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

According to the CAC, the fee adjustment was necessary due to the current economic conditions, rising operational costs, and input from key stakeholders.

The statement read, “The Commission wishes to inform the General Public, Esteemed Customers, and all Stakeholders that in the continued efforts to improve its service quality and delivery, it has become necessary to review certain service fees effective the 1st day of August 2025.”

The commission explained that the fee changes are part of efforts to deliver better and more digitalised services while maintaining the integrity of Nigeria’s corporate registry.

The revised fee structure will affect services related to companies, business names, limited partnerships, and incorporated trustees.

Key fee changes announced by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) include adjustments across various service categories. For voluntary striking-off, the fee is now ₦50,000 for small companies and ₦100,000 for public companies, up from the previous ₦25,000. Relisting a company will cost ₦50,000 for LTD/GTE and ₦100,000 for public companies. Due diligence through self-service is set at ₦50,000. Requests for extension of time to hold an annual general meeting will now cost ₦100,000 for public companies and ₦50,000 for others.

Historical search reports will range from ₦20,000 to ₦30,000 per request. A restriction of a director’s residential address now attracts a ₦25,000 fee, while obtaining a certified true copy of documents or extracts will cost ₦5,000 per copy.

For limited partnerships, both voluntary striking-off and relisting will cost ₦25,000. A letter of good standing will be ₦10,000, registration and certified copies of documents will be ₦30,000, and a change of name will attract a ₦10,000 fee.

Regarding business names, voluntary striking-off is now ₦10,000, relisting ₦25,000, and an application for cessation ₦10,000. The certified true copy of documents will cost ₦5,000 each, and restriction of a proprietor’s address will also be ₦25,000.

Name reservations remain at ₦1,000, while reserved names with restricted words still cost ₦5,000.

The new fee structure is expected to impact business owners, lawyers, compliance officers, and others who interact with the corporate registry.
