  • Russia has signed new agreements to strengthen trade and economic relations with Mali, as President Vladimir Putin hosted the West African country’s military leader, Colonel Assimi Goita, in Moscow on Monday.

The two leaders met at the Kremlin for a two-hour discussion, according to Russian state media.

Putin described the relationship between Russia and Mali as following a “positive trajectory,” though he acknowledged that current trade volumes remain modest, Reuters reported.

He emphasized potential areas for deeper cooperation, including geological exploration, natural resource development, energy, logistics, and humanitarian efforts.

One of the key deals signed was focused on nuclear energy cooperation. The two countries have previously discussed a strategic plan to build a Russian-designed low-power nuclear plant in Mali.

The junta-led country is following a similar path to Burkina Faso, having taken a major step toward embracing nuclear energy by officially signing the final administrative document of a historic intergovernmental agreement with Russia last week.

This landmark deal represents a significant milestone in Mali’s efforts to diversify its energy sources and tackle the country’s growing electricity needs, as it seeks long-term solutions to power shortages and boost national development.

    Russia’s expanding footprint in Africa
Earlier this month, construction also began on a new Russian-backed gold refinery in Mali. Set to be constructed on a five-hectare site near Bamako’s international airport, the refinery will have the capacity to process up to 200 metric tons of gold annually, a significant leap from Mali’s current processing capacity of about 50 tons.

Though Mali is one of Africa’s largest gold producers, it currently lacks a fully functional and globally certified refinery.

The country’s two existing facilities have been unable to meet the standards required by global bodies like the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), forcing miners to refine their gold abroad. The new refinery will produce gold with a purity of 99.5%, adhering to international certification standards.

This multi-billion naira development will include:
    35,000-capacity sports complex
    Smart housing estate
    Games village with training facilities
    Hospitality & business hubs

    Sources also confirm:
New road networks are being constructed around the site to improve accessibility and boost the area’s development.

Abia Warriors might soon have a world-class home ground…

Meanwhile, there’s still no plan to rebuild Enyimba’s Elephant Park Stadium. Despite earlier suggestions from fans, we understand The People’s Elephants are not planning a full stadium reconstruction at this stage.

  • When you are motivated outside take it inside of you ,because only motivation that will move you forward is self motivation but you need some one or situation to first motivate you.

Africa is full of people with toxic mindset so you must be able to be courageous enough to face distraction on your way to your promise land or destiny. ~JTT

  • To my little understanding about life , no power in on the surface of this earth can make you who you want to be including God, Angels, Miami water, demons, government , parents, and friends without you. The whole thing about you becoming who you want to be is at 90percent depending on you.

I said it again anything you depend on outside you has taking your energy , I mean you have handover your energy to it, he, her, will become your lord and you will become useless in what you want to be in life.

  • Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah receives Members of the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals

“I received members of the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals Development, led by Senator Ekong Sampson. I commended the importance of their task, as solid minerals hold a huge economic opportunity for our country, especially in the context of economic diversification.

I emphasised the need for greater inclusion of state governments in the exploration and exploitation of the nation’s solid minerals. Both national and sub-national governments possess enormous potential, yet many of these assets are lying dormant or have been left in the hands of illegal miners. That must end. As a government, we are seeking more inclusion.

I also drew attention to the ongoing conflict between the Nigerian Inland Waterway Act and the Mining Act regarding who has the right to mine sand along coastal areas. I believe this is a matter the Senate Committee will examine closely to bring clarity.

One of the major challenges in fully harnessing the solid minerals sector is the absence of reliable and up-to-date data. In many cases, available data is obsolete or insufficient for informed investment decisions. Developing accurate geospatial data and establishing clear lines of responsibility will go a long way in attracting serious investment into the sector.

We in Enugu State remain fully committed to working with the federal legislature and the federal government to reposition the solid minerals sector for national development.

I thank Senator Ekong Sampson for acknowledging Enugu’s strategic place in Nigeria’s minerals landscape. Beyond our known prominence in coal production in Udi, geological data points to valuable deposits of limestone in Nkanu and Oji River, iron ore in Nsukka and Ogbete, and silica and laterite in various parts of the state. These minerals offer significant opportunities for investment, job creation and broad economic advancement.

I welcome the Senate’s pledge to collaborate with us in crafting the necessary legal, regulatory and governance frameworks to unlock the full potential of this sector” the Governor Said
