  • *TOPIC: CHRISTIAN HOME: PILLARS THAT SUSTAIN MARRIAGES*(Series 7)

    *Scripture Reading:* Proverbs 16:24

Yesterday, I shared with you another pillars called Humility. And that it always resulted in riches, honor and life according to (Proverbs 22:4). We shall continue from where we stopped.

*8) Communication:* Communication in marriage is very important. Men and women communicate differently and if you don’t understand these differences, your marriage will be prone to breakdown.

Whenever breakdown occur in marriage, it is traceable to a break in communication. Today's Scripture says; *"Pleasant words are a honey comb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones."* (Proverbs 16:24). This is the reason why most marriages break down when there's no effective pleasant communication because they are honey comb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones! Glory to God.

*Men are thinkers, they can stay on their own and live in their minds for days. Women on the other hand are talkers.* They love to talk. As a man, you must CREATE time to talk to your wife.

There are men that carry dreams in their head for days, sometimes weeks, at times months and they don’t tell their wives. *No matter how busy you are, your wife is priority, you must communicate with her.*

Women talk for affection, it is one of their ways of showing love. *What she is saying might not make sense to you, still, you have to listen; and when she opens up to you, don’t give her a solution yet.* Listen first, sympathize first and then come up with solutions later.

*Men on the other hand talk for information. They are either informing you about something, or inquiring about something.* Women, understand that men don’t read minds, so whenever you are not pleased with something, say it. In a marriage setting, communication must be free.

No one should know you intimately, more than your spouse. Don’t be wary of training of your spouse. *Due to differences in background and some other factors, you will experience a communication gap naturally. Keep training your spouse until they get it.* To be continue tomorrow morning by God's Grace. Good morning and do have a great day, peace.

*Prayer point:* Thank you Holy Spirit for this understanding, else fort, i put on effective and pleasant communication in my marriage in Jesus Christ name. Amen!

  • Governor Otti Commends Efforts Of Security Men As He Sends-Forth Five Former Service Commanders in Abia State. Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has commended the past service commanders who served in the State for their good services rendered to ensure security of lives and property in the State. Governor Alex Otti gave the commendation on Friday, June 20th at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Umuahia during a send-forth ceremony organised by the State Government for 5 out-gone service commanders who served in Abia State. "I want to use this opportunity to thank you so much for the service that you rendered to our State. It is also an opportunity to thank the current service commanders for carrying on from where you left the battle." Governor Alex Otti said that hosting out-gone service commanders has become a tradition of his administration and assured them that Abia State is still their home. "This is a tradition we have established in this State. That, if our service commanders who have served for not less than a year are leaving, we celebrate them. And, we give them small parting gifts to remember when they were here (in Abia). And like the commander of the Nigerian Navy said, it is also a way of encouraging those who are serving to put in their best. Knowing fully well that one day, it will be their turn." "So, I would like to tell the out-gone service commanders that you have a home here in Abia. You can always come anytime to visit us," Gov. Otti assured. The Governor said that based on the cooperation and support of the service commanders, the State was able to cage insecurity and criminal activities. "That, we were able to cage insecurity, kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry, just name it, is because of you. And we were very deliberate about it. These are fine gentlemen who are properly trained," Gov. Otti stated. In their responses, some of the celebrants, including Brigadier General O.O Diya of the Nigerian Army, Navy Captain O. A. Eyitayo of the Nigerian Navy, Dr. Shelema Muhammed Soso of the DSS and Chidi Nnadi of the NDLEA expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for the honour done them and said that, it would encourage the service commanders serving currently in Abia State. They said that they are happy over the achievements made in security and infrastructural developments under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti in Abia State and expressed confidence, that with the good relationship existing between the Governor and the security agents in Abia State, the State would enjoy adequate security. The event attracted many dignitaries including current service commanders. Ctz. UKOHA NJOKU UKOHA Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Governor of Abia State, Government House, Umuahia.
