  • So, you’ve probably heard about Ian Hubert’s latest stunt, right? Apparently, he’s found a way to transport real people into CG worlds. Yes, you heard that right! Forget virtual reality headsets and all that nonsense; we’re now living in a sci-fi movie where Ian is the grand architect of our digital escapism. I mean, who needs a social life when you can just step into a shiny, pixelated universe where the grass is always greener, and the sky is an unnatural shade of purple?

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the sheer brilliance of this “demo.” I can just imagine the recruitment process: “Must be willing to leave reality behind, have no problem with animated squirrels, and be ready to question your existence while standing on a floating island.” Sounds like a fun day out with friends, doesn’t it? Because nothing says “bonding” like being whisked away into a world where the rules of physics are just polite suggestions.

And let’s not forget the potential for new professions. Forget about being a doctor or an engineer; the future is all about becoming a “CG World Navigator.” Just think of the LinkedIn bios: “Expert in traversing fantastical realms, specializing in dodging pixelated dragons and finding lost treasure chests.” It’s like the ultimate job perk—no more Monday blues, just endless adventures and the occasional existential crisis.

Now, I can imagine the pitch meetings: “What if we take a group of unsuspecting humans and drop them into a world where they can’t even order a coffee without it turning into a quest for magical beans?” Brilliant! Because, let’s face it, who doesn’t want their morning caffeine fix to come with a side of peril and adventure?

And while we’re at it, can we talk about the psychological implications? “Hey, honey, I’m off to the CG world for some ‘me time.’ I’ll be back once I’ve saved the universe!” Because you know that’s the perfect excuse for avoiding family dinner. I mean, who wouldn’t want to trade awkward small talk with relatives for slaying a dragon that’s somehow also a therapist?

Of course, no one’s actually thinking about the logistics—like, how do you pack for a journey into a digital realm? Do you bring snacks? A charger? And what about basic human needs? Do you just assume that the pixelated inhabitants will share their virtual resources? Or do they have their own version of a grocery store, complete with animated shopping carts?

In any case, I’m eagerly awaiting the inevitable “How to Survive in CG Worlds” YouTube tutorials. Picture it: “Step one: Don’t trust the talking cat; he’s probably a trickster.” I can already see the comments section filled with brave souls sharing their harrowing tales of pixelated peril.

So here we are, ready to embrace a future where reality is just a suggestion, and adventure is but a pixel away. Thanks, Ian Hubert, for reminding us that sometimes, the best way to escape our mundane lives is to dive headfirst into a world where nothing makes sense, and the only limit is our imagination—or perhaps our processing power.

A 73-year-old Israeli man, Avi Warshaviak, has died after falling ill in a hotel at the Garki area of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

According to a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X on Sunday, the incident happened on Saturday, at the Corinthia Villa Hotel, where the man was staying with his wife.

Sources said Warshaviak suddenly developed a health problem around 9:51 a.m. and was quickly taken to the Asokoro General Hospital.

Sadly, doctors confirmed him dead shortly after arrival.

“The Chief Security Officer of the hotel, Okorie Emmanuel, reported the case to the Garki Divisional Police Headquarters at about 11:23 a.m,” Makama wrote.

According to Makama, police officers visited the hotel and the hospital, took records of the incident, and moved the body to the hospital’s mortuary for an autopsy.

Police sources added that efforts are now being made to reach the Israeli Embassy in Nigeria to carry out the necessary consular procedures.

  • So, it seems we've reached a new pinnacle of creativity, folks! An optical illusion is making the rounds on TikTok, and apparently, it’s the kind of mind-bending art that has people gasping in disbelief. Yes, you heard that right—because who doesn’t want to spend hours staring at something that makes your brain feel like it just signed up for a rollercoaster ride?

Imagine this: you whip out Procreate, that fancy app that makes you feel like a digital Picasso, and suddenly you’re not just doodling anymore. No, no. You’re creating illusions that make people go “WTF” as if they’ve just spotted a unicorn in their backyard. I mean, who needs real art when you can just trick people into thinking they’re seeing a 3D rendition of a potato?

Let’s break this down. The article promises a magical mixture of Procreate and optical illusions, and it’s like they’ve discovered the secret to eternal youth. “What’s that, Grandma? You want to impress your bingo friends with a digital masterpiece? Just create some mind-blowing optical illusions, and voilà! Instant street cred!”

But here’s the kicker: creating these illusions is supposedly a walk in the park. Just a few swipes here and there, and boom! You’re an artist. Forget years of study and practice—the future is all about quick fixes and viral moments. Who needs to understand color theory or composition when you can just fool the eye?

And let’s not overlook the TikTok factor. The app is practically a black hole for creativity, where every 15-second video is another chance to showcase the latest trend in confusion. You know, like the time everyone thought they could dance like they were auditioning for the next big musical. Now, it’s all about creating art that leaves people scratching their heads. What’s next? A TikTok challenge where you try to convince your friends that a flat image is a portal to another dimension?

In a world where reality is often stranger than fiction, why not throw in some optical illusions for fun? After all, if you can’t amaze your followers with your artistic prowess, you might as well have them questioning their sanity. The beauty of these illusions lies in their ability to make us wonder: “Am I really seeing what I think I’m seeing?”

So, grab that Procreate app and start your journey into the bizarre! Who knows? You might just create the next viral sensation that leaves everyone saying “WTF” while simultaneously wondering if they need to see an eye doctor.

Get ready to confuse your friends, impress your grandma, and maybe—just maybe—find a new career in optical deception. Because nothing says “I’m a grown-up” like crafting illusions that defy the laws of physics while sitting in your pajamas.

  • Alleged N110b Fraud: Court Adjourns Yahaya Bello’s Trial to July 8

Justice Maryanne Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama, Abuja, on Wednesday, adjourned the N110 billion fraud trial of the immediate past Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, and two others until July 8; October 8 and 9; and November 12 and 13.

Bello is facing trial alongside Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, on16-count charges bordering on criminal breach of trust and money laundering to the tune of N110.4 billion. The offence, according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is contrary to Sections 96 and 311 of the Penal Code Law Cap.89, Laws of Northern Nigeria, 1963, and punishable under Section 312 of the same law.

At the resumed hearing of the matter on Wednesday, EFCC first witness, Fabian Nwora completed his evidence. Nwora is the chairman of EFAB Property which handled the property that is the subject of the suit. He told the court that he opened negotiations on the said property but that the negotiation was concluded by Segun Adeleke, who is the EFCC second witness (PW2)

Nwora had, at a previous hearing, testified that he was invited to the EFCC on Feb. 8, 2023. He explained that it was in regard to a transaction between Shehu Bello and EFAB Property on a property located at No. 1 Ikogosi Street, Maitama. He noted that it was Mr Shehu who approached him about the property.

Adeleke, led by the prosecution counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, reiterated that, in 2020, his chairman, Nwora, gave him the brief on the property, which Shehu showed interest in. He said the deal was concluded and N500 million paid for the said property.

When asked further what happened afterwards, the witness said Bello returned to their office, with the agreement. “He told me that he was no longer interested in the property as a result of the EFCC investigation.

“My chairman said he would revert after consulting with our company secretary,” he said.

Pinheiro asked about some documents issued to one Nuhu Muhammed in respect of a property in the Gwarinpa area. The witness confirmed that the documents were issued to the said Muhammed after he purchased one of the units of the detached bungalows belonging to EFAB Property Limited.

At that point, Counsel for Mr Shehu and the second defendant Joseph Daudu, SAN, objected. He said “My lord, there is a clear disconnect between the documents sought to be tendered and the foundation laid by the witness himself.” The prosecution, however, said the objection was misconceived and it was subsequently overruled by the Judge.

Justice Anenih adjourned the case until July 8 and Oct 8, 2025, for continuation of hearing.

  • 🎙 Russia's President Vladimir Putin took part in the plenary session of the 28th St Petersburg International Economic Forum.

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, National Security Advisor, Commander of the Royal Guard of the Kingdom of Bahrain Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Ding Xuexiang, and Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa Paul Mashatile also attended the session.

    Key statements:

Despite a challenging international landscape, Russia’s GDP has been demonstrating an annual growth rate of over four percent over the past two years, which is above the global average.

    • Commodities no longer play a defining role in Russia’s economic growth patterns. In 2023, Russia’s non-oil-and-gas GDP increased by 7.2 percent, followed by an additional 4.9 percent in 2024. These are solid figures exceeding the overall GDP growth rates.

    • Our strategic vector is precisely to actively and consistently transform the structure of the national economy, step by step. We have achieved a great deal in this area, but it is clear that moving forward is critically important, especially in light of the dramatic changes taking place in the world.

    • Annual inflation has already dropped to single-digit levels below ten percent. As of June 16, it stood at 9.6 percent. Of course, that is still high, but inflation targeting continues.

    • Over the past four years, employment in Russia has grown by 2.4 million people. Since October last year, the national unemployment rate has stabilised at around 2.3 percent, reaching a historic low.

    • In terms of youth unemployment, Russia ranks among the best globally, with a rate of approximately seven and a half percent.
For comparison, youth unemployment stands at around 16 percent in France and 11 percent in the United Kingdom.

    • Russia’s economy must become more technologically advanced. We must fully unleash a new phase of the country’s technological development. The key instrument in this regard should be the national projects aimed at securing technological leadership.

  • Osun to refund N84bn to reinstated APC chairmen, FG tells Supreme Court

The Federal Government of Nigeria has urged the Supreme Court of Nigeria to order the Osun State Government to refund the 8 month allocations due to the 30 local governments in the state which the Adeleke government collected from July 2024 to February 2025.

The FG stated this in an affidavit deposed to by the Special Assistant to the President, Taiye Hussain Oloyede in response to Suit No: SC/CV/379/2025 by the Osun State Government against the Federal Government.

According to the Federal Government, "the only way to vindicate the authority of the Supreme Court is to order the plaintiff ( Osun State Government) to pay back to the Minister of Finance all the money due to the local governments of Osun which the plaintiff claimed it had collected from July 2024 to February 2025. The Minister of Finance will then pay the money to the owners of same ( the local governments of Osun State."

A check at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federal indicated that from July 2024 and February, 2025, N84 billion was disbursed to the 30 local governments of Osun State, the money which the state government cornered and appropriated without legal authority.

A further check showed that in July and August 2024, N9.7bn and N8.8bn were paid respectively. In September, N9.4bn was paid while N10.5bn was disbursed for the month of October.

However, in November, the net allocation went up to N11.5bn while in December, N10.3bn was paid. For the months of January and February 2025, N12.2bn and N12bn were paid in that order.

The FG explained that only those elected in the local election conducted by the immediate past government of Osun State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress that are in charge of the affairs of the local government and only banks account details supplied by them to the office of the Minister of Finance could be recognized for the direct receipt of the LG's monthly allocation.

The FG argued that the Court of Appeal in February 2025 legalized the local government election conducted under the administration of ex-Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and only the officials produced by the election are legally mandated to appropriate the monthly allocation due to the local governments in the state.

The FG clarified that the Supreme Court judgement of 11th July, 2024 has made it illegal for a state government or its governor or other agencies to keep, control, manage, or disburse in any manner allocations from the Federal Account to Local Governments.
Osun to refund N84bn to reinstated APC chairmen, FG tells Supreme Court The Federal Government of Nigeria has urged the Supreme Court of Nigeria to order the Osun State Government to refund the 8 month allocations due to the 30 local governments in the state which the Adeleke government collected from July 2024 to February 2025. The Minister of Finance will then pay the money to the owners of same ( the local governments of Osun State." A check at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federal indicated that from July 2024 and February, 2025, N84 billion was disbursed to the 30 local governments of Osun State, the money which the state government cornered and appropriated without legal authority.
