As a mom, I have learnt that your children will start disobeying you even from the womb. I’m not kidding. This is something I realised after giving birth to David and Michelle. Let me explain.

When I was pregnant with David, I only asked this boy for one thing. I asked him to make sure he comes out carrying the same dimples his daddy has. If you know my husband, you will know that his dimple is very very “dimply” Those dimples are always the highlight of my day, especially when he smiles. So, when I was pregnant with David, I repeatedly asked him to make sure he comes out with those dimples as well, but did he obey me? Capital no!

Fast forward to his sister, Michelle, I kept repeating the same instruction when she was in the womb. I even had to touch my husband‘s dimples countless times and touch my tummy and kept repeating same thing. Did she obey me? No. She went ahead to follow her brother’s footsteps.

Why can’t these children obey simple instruction? They both look like my husband but forgot to get the most important thing I needed, the ultimate dimples.

Court Jails Man One Year For $5000 Money Laundering in Lagos

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has convicted and sentenced one Mbonu Somto to one year imprisonment for money laundering. Somto was arraigned on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 on a one-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of $5000 (Five Thousand United States Dollars) brought against him by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Embrace Integrity, Olukoyede Urges Students

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has charged students in the country to shun all forms of economic and financial crimes and embrace a life of integrity for a fulfilling future.

He gave the charge recently during the induction of students of Excellent Kiddies Academy, Bwari, Abuja into EFCC’s Integrity Club.

Represented by the Head of the Interface Unit of the Public Affairs Department of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC I, Tony Orilade, Olukoyede emphasized the importance of moral uprightness among young people, urging them to surround themselves with individuals who uphold integrity and positive values.

“To secure a brighter future, you must get it right from the beginning. Surround yourself with good people, friends and acquaintances that will help you grow in wisdom and integrity,” he said.

While warning them against associating with individuals involved in financial crimes, he stated that negative influence from such people could draw them to criminal behaviours and that could in turn, earn them grave consequences.

“Anyone who engages in financial crimes is on a path that leads to jail. Once convicted, such a person becomes an ex-convict and loses the opportunity to hold any public office in Nigeria. That is a heavy price to pay for associating with the wrong crowd,” he said.

Olukoyede further stated that the project of inaugurating EFCC’s Integrity Club in primary and secondary schools was part of the Commission’s policy of “catching them young,” which is about nurturing children to be ambassadors of integrity in their homes, schools, communities, and the country at large.

Also speaking at the event, the Head of Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit of the Commission, Assistant Commander of the EFCC II, Aisha Mohammed, enlightened the children on the functions and activities of the EFCC. She encouraged them to be honest, disciplined, and upright in their daily lives, noting that integrity is a crucial ingredient for success.

“Youths must understand that honesty and integrity are values that never go out of fashion. They open doors and keep you on the right path in life,” she said.

The highlight of the induction ceremony was a quiz competition that dwelt on EFCC and its operations. Two students, Glory Okinbaliyi and Divine Oyaniyi Bimbola emerged winners and were rewarded with android smartphones.

In his vote of thanks, the Integrity Club Master of the school, Mr. Gbenga Jatau, expressed appreciation to the EFCC Chairman and management his team for bringing the club to the school.

“On behalf of the management, staff, and students of Excellent Kiddies Academy, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to the EFCC Chairman for this great honour. We applaud the Commission’s unwavering commitment to fighting all forms of economic and financial crimes and building a better Nigeria,” he said.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Ghana today for talks with President John Mahama. He's the first leader of the subcontinent to travel to the country in West Africa in 30 years.

Modi is also expected to address Ghana's parliament. Ahead of his departure, Modi said the two-day trip was aimed at deepening cooperation in investment, energy, health, security and building partnerships. “Supporting Peter Obi's coalition would be a gravę mistake for Arewa” – Angry Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri has warned Arewa against supporting Peter Obi's coalition, citing concerns about Obi's past actions and potential consequences for the North. According to Omokri, if Arewa backs Obi's coalition and gives him the Presidential ticket, they may face marginalization similar to what Northern Cameroon experienced after Ahmadou Ahidjo's resignation in 1982.

Omokri highlighted President Bola Tinubu's loyalty and integrity in supporting former President Muhammadu Buhari, suggesting that Arewa has a reliable Southern ally in Tinubu. He raised questions about Obi's credibility, citing allegations of plotting against Muslims, defending IPOB, and failing to condemn IPOB's activities, and appointing a Christian coordinator in Sokoto.

Following Peter Obi's appeal to Nigerians about his single four-year presidential bid, Reno Omokri said: “If Arewa makes the mistake of backing the coalition and giving their Presidential ticket to Peter Obi, exactly what happened to Northern Cameroon after Ahmadou Ahidjo resigned on November 4, 1982, is what will happen to Northern Nigeria. And this is the man telling you to give him power, and he will do only one term?

A man who could not keep a promise to Ojukwu will now stay true to his pledge to Arewa?

RENO OMOKRI'S “EVIDENCE” FAILS TO PROVE HE MADE PETER OBI VICE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE.

Recently,Reno Omokri claimed he was instrumental in Peter Obi’s selection as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in 2019,and offered an email screenshot as “proof” of this claim.But a closer look at the content shows that Reno’s supposed evidence is weak and irrelevant.

First,the email,dated October 8, 2018,is from a third party who wrote to Reno thanking him for support to [name redacted] and for building a better Nigeria.It then goes on to say “I have been directed by our Oga to send my resume.”That is the entire substance of the message.

There is no mention whatsoever of any recommendation of Peter Obi,any strategic discussion about vice presidential candidates,any personal involvement by Reno in influencing Atiku’s selection,any mention of Atiku or PDP decision-making,any evidence that Reno even forwarded the email to Atiku or was part of the selection process

In essence,the email only shows that someone who called Reno “dear brother” was sending a résumé likely for a political appointment and acknowledging his general support for an unnamed candidate.It is a routine political networking letter,not a confidential kingmaker memo.

If Reno Omokri had truly played a decisive role in nominating Peter Obi,you would expect to see a direct communications between Reno and Atiku,strategy memos,phone call records,minutes of meetings referencing his advice.
At the very least,a message explicitly discussing Obi’s nomination

Instead,what he posted proves nothing beyond the fact that he was part of the PDP orbit,as many were at the time.It is a big leap from “someone sent me their résumé” to “I made Peter Obi the VP candidate.” The evidence simply does not hold up.

Political history deserves more serious documentation than a single résumé email.Nigerians are entitled to transparency and facts,not half-baked bragging right.

Zambia has officially secured a 26% stake in Angola’s Lobito oil refinery project, Angola’s largest oil refinery.

The Lobito refinery, currently under construction in Angola’s Benguela Province, is set to become one of Africa’s largest petroleum processing refineries, with a planned capacity of 200,000 barrels per day.

Once completed by 2026, the multi-billion-dollar refinery will refine crude oil for both international and domestic export, including export to Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Zambia becomes a key shareholder alongside Angola’s state oil firm Sonangol (which holds a 30% stake), while the remaining shares are allocated to other regional and private investors.

Part of the agreement will see Angola transports refined petroleum products to Zambia.

Plans are underway to construct a pipeline from Angola to Zambia, enabling direct transport of refined petroleum products to Zambia.

“This is a strategic move to end our historical dependency on distant and costly fuel sources,” Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema said. “We are unlocking long-term energy security for Zambia and the wider region.”

This could lower Zambia’s fuel import costs and lead to retail price reductions of up to 15%.

The Chief of Civil Affairs in the Nigerian Army, Major-General Usman Mohammed, has said that the use of phones when approaching a military checkpoint is wrong. According to him, it is security loop for anyone to approach a checkpoint and at the same time, make use of his or her phone.

“It is a security measure for when you are approaching a checkpoint, you don’t make phone calls because the tendency is that if you are making a phone call, you might be communicating with some bad guys or you may use that particular device to set up some certain devices. It is a general convention; it is not peculiar to Nigeria, it is everywhere. People who have travelled abroad know that you don’t make phone calls when approaching a checkpoint” he said.

A 55-year-old Nigerian man, Aremu Timothy Adegboyega, has been convicted by an Accra Circuit Court for smuggling over $100,000 worth of counterfeit CFA Francs into Ghana and will be deported to Nigeria.

Initially pleading not guilty, he later admitted his guilt and was charged with possessing forged notes and illegal entry. He was arrested at the Aflao border while riding as a motorcycle passenger with suspicious bundles of fake currency, Adegboyega confessed to knowingly transporting the forged notes from Togo into Ghana.

He claimed the fake money came from a Nigerian contact on behalf of a mafia figure in Côte d’Ivoire 🇨🇮. The court imposed fines and a potential prison term, while Ghanaian authorities emphasized the case as a warning against threats to national security.
