Police in Ashanti Region of Ghana has arrested 5 Nigerians for attack and robbery of bank customers

Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe, says the suspects follow their victims after they withdraw large sums of money from financial institutions. They then break into their vehicles to rob.

Their operations have been going on for the past month.

Two suspects were identified from police intelligence gathering, supported by footage from the intelligence video surveillance (IVS) system monitored at the police emergency command centre.

A gold-coloured Toyota Highlander with registration number GT 2471-14 and a black Toyota Highlander with registration number GX 7124-12 were confirmed to be used for the robbery. Both vehicles were found to bear fake licence plates.

According to the police commander, on Thursday, 19th June, 2025, around 10 am, the police successfully arrested three other suspects; Russell Ekenze, 29 years, a taxi driver, Francis Friday, 49 years, and Linus Agwazie, a 51-year-old trader.

DCOP Teye Cudjoe, in his press briefing, said that during their interrogation, the suspects confessed to being part of a large criminal syndicate.

They also named other members of the syndicate as Cosmas Maduabuchukwu, Ezuchukwu, C.J , DD and Lele,"

He added that Cosmas Maduabuchukwu sustained gunshot wounds during an attempted arrest but managed to flee.

Six suspects are currently in police custody and the two vehicles used by the syndicate have been impounded. A manhunt is underway to arrest Cosmos Maduabuchukwu and other accomplices still at large.

“Preliminary findings indicate that all members of the syndicate are Nigerian nationals with the exception of DD, who is a Ghanaian and they have been arraigned before the court for lawful remand,” said the police.

The police command has assured the public of its commitment to ensure the safety and security of all residents in the region

2027: Abia North Traditional Rulers Endorse Gov Alex Otti For Second Term

The Abia North Traditional Rulers Council has unanimously endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term in office, citing his transformational governance and visible development strides across the State.

In a Communiqué issued at the end of its meeting held on Tuesday, 25th June 2025, at the Isuikwuato Local Government Headquarters, the council passed a vote of confidence on Governor Otti, describing him as “a man who has redefined governance in Abia State and touched lives positively”.

The Meeting, which brought together royal fathers from Arochukwu, Ohafia, Bende, Isuikwuato, and Umunneochi Local Government Areas, highlighted with deep appreciation the impact and effectiveness of the Otti-led administration in key sectors including infrastructure, security, environmental sanitation, healthcare, education, and the welfare of traditional rulers.

According to the communiqué, “Visible projects done by the Governor, including reconstruction of roads, retrofitting of Primary Healthcare centres, renovation of Schools among others”, were applauded by the Monarchs.

They agreed to “work assiduously to support the government of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, particularly in the area of Security by aligning with all the Security Agencies to ensure the nooks and crannies of Abia State are safe and secured”.

The Traditional Rulers also pledged their full support to the Otti-led administration, particularly in strengthening security at the grassroots.

FG Hosts Workshop on Gender Mainstreaming and GBV Success Stories Dissemination under TRIMING Project.

The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, in collaboration with the World Bank and other critical stakeholders, convened a Gender Mainstreaming and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Success Stories Dissemination Workshop under the Transforming Irrigation Management in Nigeria (TRIMING) Project, with the theme: “From Tradition to Transformation, Led by Women”, today in Kano.

The Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, in his keynote address emphasized that the TRIMING Project was designed to enhance irrigation systems and promote integrated water resource management, with gender and social safeguards as core components.

According to Prof. Utsev, the project has transformed women, youth, and vulnerable groups from being marginalized to becoming vital contributors in agriculture and water governance.

He highlighted the achievements of the project, including the development of GBV Action Plans across all schemes for risk mitigation and survivor support, women’s leadership in Water Users Associations (WUAs), enhancing inclusive decision-making, and the economic empowerment of women through active roles in irrigation management.

Prof. Utsev added that the extensive capacity-building on gender sensitivity and GBV prevention, the strengthening of local capacitie, including youth champions and gender desk officers, cultural norm shifts through media, dialogues, and storytelling in local languages, as well as alignment with global best practices and World Bank environmental and social standards, are additional achievements of the project.

The Minister thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the World Bank, and the Project Monitoring Unit for their support in driving TRIMING’s success. He urged the replication of its gender and GBV initiatives in other projects and emphasized that achieving a gender-equitable, GBV-free society requires ongoing commitment and collaboration.

Engr. Hauwa Sadique Mohammed, Deputy Director Irrigation, delivering the welcome address on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, emphasized the workshop as a key milestone in advancing inclusivity, equity, and safety, particularly for women, girls, and vulnerable groups in the TRIMING Project. The Permanent Secretary highlighted that from inception, the project prioritized gender equality, GBV prevention, and social inclusion, with gender mainstreaming embedded across all stages to ensure equal opportunities and safe spaces.

Delivering a comprehensive overview of the project, the Project Coordinator, Engr. Ipinlaye Olaiya, emphasized the central role of gender mainstreaming across all components of the TRIMING Project, noting that the deliberate integration of gender perspectives was not only strategic but essential to the long-term sustainability and impact of the interventions.

Goodwill messages were delivered by the Managing Director of Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Engr. Rabiu Suleiman Yusuf, representative of the academia,Prof. Restituta Igube from the University of Abuja, and Commissioners from the Gombe State Ministry of Women Affairs, Asmau Mohammed Iganus as well as the representative of Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children, and the Disabled. They all emphasized the significance of inclusivity, sustainability, and community ownership in gender-responsive water and agricultural development.

A key moment of the workshop was the presentation of badges to Women Leaders of Water Users Associations (WUAs) of Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority, Jigawa, Kano, Gombe and Zamfara States.

FULANI HERDSMEN ATTACK OGONI COMMUNITY, ONE KILLED, OTHERS ABDUCTED

The scripture above will lead us to the next pillars:

*3) Trust:* A good marriage cannot be built and sustained without trust. Trust toward one another is vital.

Marital trust has three basic levels. Each of these levels is weighted in importance. *The first level is that of fidelity. A married person must be able to trust that his or her spouse will remain faithful in the marriage.* God placed such an importance on this area of trust in marriage that He made not committing adultery one of the Ten Commandments.

The second level of trust is that of honesty. A husband or wife should be able to trust that his or her partner will be honest. *A spouse must be honest about who they are, what they’re feeling and thinking, and about their successes and failures. There should be no hiding secret from one another.* They should be able to trust each other to tell the truth.

Now, if a spouse does not tell the truth about something, it doesn’t break the foundation of the marriage trust, but it does damage the relationship. A big question to be asked is why one’s spouse was untruthful. The answer to that question plays a big part in healing the wound of that broken trust. *If, for instance, a wife fails to tell her husband about her past rough life because she was afraid he would be angry, and if he has a history of being angry over things like that, then both of them must work on healing that wound. She needs to reestablish her credibility with him by being honest and he needs to make it safe for her to tell the truth by not punishing her with his anger for doing so.*

The third level of trust has to do with behaviors. A husband or wife generally wants to trust that his or her spouse will behave in certain ways toward him or her. *One wants to trust the other to meet needs, to treat with respect, to be patient and to consider him or her in daily activities.*

The levels of trust, one, two, or three, are designated so for the following reason. If a husband breaks his wife’s trust on the first level, he destroys far more than breaking her trust on the third level. *Conversely, if a husband forgets to call his wife to let her know he will arrive late at home, it would not have the devastating effect infidelity would have had.* It may have broken her trust and weakened the relationship, but it doesn’t destroy it and takes less work to mend.
